Charlotte (Lottie) Le Gallais was a nurse on the New Zealand hospital ship Maheno, which was sent to Gallipoli. She hoped to meet up with her brother, who was fighting there, but unfortunately he was killed before this could happen. This story is based on the letters Lottie and her brother sent home and the war diary of one of the officers on the Maheno.
